What is the story about?
The audience delights over this sweet and charming musical adaptation from the stories of the Brothers Grimm and Adelheid Humperdinck Wette. Sent into the woods, Hansel and Gretel meet up with a number of peculiar characters. A fiery troll guards his little wooden bridge. Even more, an articulate owl, a forest sprite, and two hobgoblins are in the service of an evil (but extremely funny) witch. She locks poor Hansel in a cage and feeds him nothing but cake! Everyone cheers Gretel as she outwits the crone and sets free all the children who have been turned into cookies! Every dramatic moment is brought to life, from the night spent in the woods to the discovery of the candy-coated little cottage. Sweetened delightfully with music, all enjoy the fun of songs like ’Gingerbread Witch’ and ’Apple Muffin Goblins.’
We all know that the community theatres rely heavily on community support, and that is especially true of the Zara-V Studio. The staging of a musical theatre production (without a theatre) can cost approximately $20,000. We aren’t sure our costs can be covered by box office sales alone and the parents' contribution of their own young artists participating in this production. Therefore, we seek financial and in-kind sponsorship to assist with our production. All sponsorship forms are welcome and will receive recognition in our playbill, in media reports, and via social media. In particular, we are seeking up to two major show sponsors whose names will appear on all posters and advertising. Since the first show is scheduled for March 2024 and the next in December 2024, sponsors will also receive a more extended promotion period than is typically the case.
As a completely new musical theater program at Zara - V Studio, we aim to build our first show that will go on to be performed for years to come around the Chicago area, but for that to happen, it all begins with its debut of The Story of Hansel and Gretel Musical. Sponsoring this locally produced show will go a long way towards adding this show to the Chicagoan performing arts landscape.
The costs of putting on a performance by any community theater group are significant. For Zara-V Studio, which does not have its own venue, these costs include venue hire, rehearsal space hire, sound and lighting, and so on, all of which are considerable costs. In this particular production, the script, musical scores, royalties, and arrangement already have been purchased by Zarui Vardanean's expenses, which is a substantial saving from the usual show hire costs associated with a performance, but there remain many other costs.
Ticket sales offset some expenses, but sponsorship is crucial to our ability to mount a production successfully. Sponsorships are a donation to the arts. In the case of The Story of Hansel and Gretel Musical, which will have its debut at the Krug Community Circle, Wheeling, IL, on Sunday, March 24 at 2 pm., the sponsorship helps us assemble a show that we hope might live on for years to come and for which the sponsors will know they played a part in our community's theatrical history.
With more than 25 people involved in the show, sponsors will also know they assisted a production that encourages and nurtures the skills of children and adults in acting, singing, dancing, choreography, stage management, design and construction, wardrobe, makeup, and the myriad of other roles related to production. In return, we offer what recognition we can, as detailed in the table below. Where in-kind sponsorship is provided, it will be recorded with its approximate value. While we cannot control local media coverage, we will also endeavor to ensure sponsors, especially major/platinum sponsors, receive feature coverage for their assistance in making this production a reality.
